Help for Organizations

Many teens and young adults are struggling with their mental health. When they are depressed, anxious, traumatized, or angry, they may act in ways that can be disruptive and harmful.

Circles can help young people manage their emotions and support mental health and wellness.

We train staff to use the Circles model to help young people manage emotions, problem-solve, and build skills to create their own path toward mental health and wellness. The model was specifically designed for teens and young adults, with developmentally appropriate lessons that build on one another.

Circles includes 12 facilitated conversations, each of which is designed to help young people build specific skills that support their ability to develop positive relationships with each other, learn to set healthy boundaries, and strengthen mental health so that they can thrive. Circles conversations are designed to address the developmental needs of young people.

Young people who have participated in Circles are better able to stay grounded and be less reactive. But don’t take it from us. The following excerpt is from a poem written by a group of Circles participants at the Matibabu Nursing School in Kenya:

In the Circles of Connection and Resilience,

Hands have entwined and strength has

Flown forth from person to person

And through the storms and calm embrace,

Resilience found its sacred place…

The connections we formed, like ripples wide

Have touched our lives in every side

A circle’s strength, its endless grace,

Has held us firm in time and space

When darkness falls and hope seems thin,

Our circles will close in, and warmth will flood in

And from the ashes we’ll rise together,

Bound by bonds that will never die.
